  1. The best film I screened was Quo Vadis because I found the character of Emperor Nero very amusing and I also learned the most from this film that I had not known before.

  2. The best film I screened, in my opinion, was Julius Caeser because although I've read this play before in previous years, it was nice to watch with an older eye and it was nice to watch in movie form rather than reading it on paper.

  3. In their own way, they were all good, but think the most compelling film was "The Truce."

  5. The best film I screened was The Decameron because it showed the genuine reality of life. I think that the directors intentions for the film were very eye opening for me.

  6. Personally, I really enjoyed watching The truce. It helped me understand the hardship the refugees went through during the Holocaust and I think it deepened my sympathy for them. It also reminded me a little bit of Schindler's List.

  8. The film I enjoyed the most was The Agony and The Ecstasy. I did not look away or pause the movie while I watched it. I loved the depiction of Michelangelo that focused on his artistic genius in addition to his battles with the Church. I think it perfectly balanced the creative struggle with the political. Seeing the physical and emotional development of one of the greatest masterpieces in Western culture allows me to better appreciate the art and Michelangelo as an individual.

  9. The film I enjoyed watching most was The Truce. It was the most compelling and emotional films that we screened in my opinion. The fact that it was also based on a true story and true events in history made it even more interesting.

  10. Since I can't decide between the two, the films I enjoyed the most were The Decameron and The Truce. The Decameron was really interesting in the way it was shot and I really enjoyed all the different storylines. The Truce was such an emotional film and I really loved how the film ended with Primo restarting his life again.

  11. The best film I screened was The Decameron because it showed that people aren’t perfect. It showed that one can’t always think rationally because the heart always gets in the way. Some decisions are very hard to make rationally when feelings are involved. It showed that someone can be seen as sinful or wrong in the eyes of those around them but they feel their actions as so right.

  12. Some of the movies weren't the easiest to follow so I have to say I liked Julius Caesar the most. Being that I already knew the story line, it was easier and more interesting to me to be able to focus more on the production of the film and the portrayal of the characters.

  13. I very much enjoyed "The Name of The Rose" I found it approachable because it was somewhat modern and the story was captivating. It's possible that I enjoyed this one the most because I was very unfamiliar with the Dark Ages as a whole. I love learning about the fear and oppressive nature of the church and thought that the film captured that dark and brutal energy very well. It was definitely depressing and gory but I would imagine that those times were actually like that. I also connected with the protagonist, William Baskerville, and his pursuit of knowledge. He challenged the churches teachings and felt that people should be educated and well-read. I find that a very admirable quality.

  14. My favorite film I screened was Julius Caesar. It was easy to understand, easy to follow and was character-driven. All in doing so, it provided nice commentary on the mentality of Italian men at the time, in Shakespeare's eyes (thirst for power). Overall, I connected with it best.
